Salary: £23,816 - £26,000 per year (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday (08:00 - 16:30) with occasional Saturday mornings
Location: Holton Heath, Poole, Dorset (BH16 6LE)

ACS (Analytical Construction Services) provides high-quality material testing and consultancy services for the construction and civil engineering industries. With over 35 years of experience, we are a UKAS-accredited company offering a wide range of laboratory and site testing services.

We are looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join our Chemistry Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled laboratory professional with hands-on GC, GC-MS, and GC-HS experience to join a growing team.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct organic analysis following documented test methods and laboratory procedures

Operate and maintain GC, GC-MS, and GC-HS instrumentation

Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Health & Safety regulations

Accurately report results using LIMS, Excel, and other laboratory software

Prepare laboratory reagents and standards as needed

Troubleshoot analytical instruments and implement corrective actions

Work within a UKAS and MCERTS-accredited environment

Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation in the lab

• Degree in Chemistry or a related science-based subject (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 12 months of laboratory experience (work placement or full-time)
• Hands-on experience with GC, GC-MS, or GC-HS techniques
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office and instrument software
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team

Experience in a UKAS and MCERTS-accredited laboratory

Knowledge of PAH, TPH, BTEX & Speciated techniques

Previous experience in materials testing
