Do you have the experience and confidence to support teaching and learning at a higher level?

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work with schools in Northumberland, supporting teachers and leading learning activities across the classroom.

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting lesson delivery, leading small group sessions, and occasionally covering classes, helping to ensure students remain engaged and make progress in a positive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities:

• Support the planning and delivery of lessons alongside the class teacher.
• Lead small group interventions and support targeted learning activities.
• Cover lessons in the absence of the teacher where required.
• Support students of varying abilities, including those with additional needs.
• Help maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support student progress.

Requirements of HLTA:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
• Previous experience working in a school setting.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Confidence in leading learning activities independently.
• A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach.
• A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
