Sr. Supplier Quality Manager, Mechanical SQM

The Supply Quality Manager aims to lead supplier quality management, supporting Amazon device engagement from Contract Manufacturing (CM) to Original Design Manufacturer (ODM). Key responsibilities include developing approved suppliers for mass production of high-quality parts, managing suppliers to ensure consistent quality and yield improvements, and qualifying new suppliers to support capacity increases and new programs.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead end-to-end supplier quality management.
  2. Develop new suppliers or enhance existing ones to support capacity and new programs, establishing mechanisms for supplier improvements.
  3. Set quality goals, monitor failure rates, and drive continuous quality improvements in mechanical parts manufacturing.
  4. Identify root causes of issues, resolve performance problems, and work with cross-functional teams during NPI and mass production phases.
  5. Collaborate with engineering during project development to monitor and resolve material issues.
  6. Develop processes for early problem detection and improvement in product design, specifications, and materials.
  7. Enhance failure analysis capabilities within suppliers and contract manufacturers, ensuring resource and equipment readiness.
  8. Lead and develop the supplier quality engineer team, oversee quality reviews and corrective actions across sub-tier suppliers.
  9. Work with commodity management to identify quality and process improvements to reduce costs.
  10. Coordinate with engineering and material teams for qualification of alternative sources and review engineering changes related to mechanical materials.
  11. Lead qualification of copy lines, tooling, and fixtures.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing and quality environments; GB/BB/CQE certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with tooling, molding, and assembly processes; strong project management skills.
  • Experience with statistical tools like Minitab for cause analysis and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, Cpk, FAI, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents and identify critical process and product characteristics.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in establishing and revising supplier quality guidelines and processes, especially in China.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, with a strong sense of ownership and willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in NPI mechanical part quality development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with senior management.
  • Background in process quality improvement and product qualification.
  • Expertise in quality tools like Six Sigma, Lean, and cycle time reduction.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt, Third-party auditor certification, PMP certification preferred.
