Contract: Permanent, Health & Justice Services - HMP High Down, 37.5 hours per week, 7 day working model.
Salary: £44,485 - £52,521 per annum (incl. Outer HCAS pro rata / part time). Closing 27/01/2026.

Job OverviewAs a Registered Adult Nurse with senior Band 5 experience, you will deliver comprehensive primary care in a prison setting. You will operate independently, provide supervision, training and support to staff, and work with multidisciplinary teams.
Main Duties of the Job- Screen new arrivals and promote health.
- Manage long term conditions, minor ailments and respond to incidents.
- Collaborate with mental health, substancetersuch, GP, dentistry, optician, podiatry and other partners.
- Safeguard vulnerable patients in line with CNWL Trust policies.
- Apply local risk assessment and management protocols.
- Facil Tos appropriate referrals for complex care caregiverelts with
- Coordinate multidisciplinary clinical practice and treatment programmes.
- De escalate aggressive behaviours using skilled interventions.
- Attendонд and contribue to prison meetings, ensuring actions are communicated.
- Maintain high standards of clinical records and report writing.
- Provide and receive supervision, participate in audits and governance activities.
- Support teaching, training and supervision of nursing staff.
- Assist in service development and recruitment activities.
- Maintain electronic clinical records and provide data to service leads.
- Comply with health, safety, security and professional policies.
- Evidence of personal and professional development since registration.
- ENB 998 or equivalent.
- Chronic disease management or long term condition qualification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality and record keeping.
- Understanding of multidisciplinary team roles.
- Evidence based practice and clinical governance knowledge.
- Ability to give and receive feedback, and provide support and supervision.
- Knowledge of current developments in specialist clinical area.
- Caring, non judgmental approach.
- Committed to ongoing professional development.
- Flexible to day and night shifts.
