Job Description

Swindon Borough Council is on an exciting journey to transform service delivery and support our communities.

Your next role

Housing and Corporate Repairs sit at the heart of people's everyday lives, and we're on an improvement journey to transform how we deliver for our residents. Our ambition is clear: to provide outstanding customer service, deliver value for money, and build modern, responsive services centred around residents' needs. This role plays an important part in ensuring the Council's contracts are managed effectively and deliver value for money across housing and corporate property services.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake day to day contract management and administration functions, supporting the full contract lifecycle from mobilisation through delivery, review and close out.
  • Manage a portfolio of contracts, monitoring performance against agreed standards and KPIs, identifying risks and issues, and taking timely action to ensure contracts are delivered as intended.
  • Coordinate contract activity and oversee core administration processes, including processing payment certificates, valuations, variations and contract instructions, and ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Support financial control by checking costs, validating claims and maintaining clear audit trails to support sound decision making.
  • Build effective working relationships across the service and with suppliers, support contract renewals or terminations where required and help ensure services remain resilient, well governed and customer focused.
  • Embed a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement across contract management and administration activity.
Qualifications
  • Experience in contract management and contract administration, ideally within a public sector or property related environment.
  • Familiarity with processing valuations, payment certificates and contract documentation, and the ability to manage multiple contracts while interpreting contractual terms.
  • A degree level qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Structured, proactive approach and confidence working collaboratively with technical and administrative colleagues to manage performance, cost and risk.
Additional information

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work life balance.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer facing role").
