Job Description
Senior Building Surveyor (Investigations / Building Pathology)

Leighton Buzzard
£41,000 - £50,000 Car/Allowance

Step into a role where you lead investigations-not just reports.

If you're a Building Surveyor or Engineer with investigation experience, or a Consultant, this is an opportunity to move into a role where you'll own projects, advise clients, and progress into leadership.

You'll join a growing consultancy delivering complex defect diagnosis and structural investigations, with real influence over outcomes-not just ticking boxes.

Why apply?
  • Move beyond standard surveys into specialist investigations
  • Take full ownership of projects from start to finish
  • Work on technically challenging, varied buildings
  • Supportive, close-knit team environment
The role

You'll lead and deliver a range of building investigation and pathology projects, acting as the key point of contact for clients.

Your work will include:
  • Intrusive & non-intrusive condition surveys
  • Defect diagnosis and root cause analysis
  • Concrete investigations (corrosion, deterioration)
  • Water ingress and façade issues
  • Non-destructive testing (GPR, ultrasonic, etc.)
  • Building investigations for repurposing and design input.
  • Coordinating laboratory testing and interpreting results.
You'll also:
  • Produce clear, practical, client-facing reports
  • Manage projects (programme, budget, quality)
  • Build strong client relationships
  • Deliver practical solutions.
  • Plan resources, allocate tasks and monitor performance.
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Contribute to technical and process improvements

What we're looking for
  • Background in Building Surveying, Structural Engineering, or similar
  • Experience with building investigations / defect diagnosis
  • Strong reporting and client-facing skills
  • Ready to take ownership or step up into project leadership
  • Commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset
RICS / ICE / CIOB (or similar) - desirable, not essential

Who this suits
  • A Building Surveyor wanting more technical/specialist work
  • A Consultant stuck in delivery looking for progression
  • Someone who enjoys understanding why buildings fail-not just reporting it

Package
  • £41,000 - £50,000 salary
  • Car or car allowance
  • Permanent
  • 37.5 Hours per week.
  • Monday - Friday
  • Opportunity to invest in share scheme after 6 months
  • 2 paid volunteering days per year
  • Access to a dedicated employee app with extensive retail discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Annual flu vaccinations
  • Eyecare scheme
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Refer a Friend incentive
