Locum Consultant in Gynaecological Histopathology

Contract: 12 months, Full time - 10 sessions per week. Job ref: 321-CSS-MS S1.
Site: John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
Salary: £113,565 - £150,569 yearly. Closing date: 12/07/:59.
Provide a comprehensive gynaecological histopathology service in the Oxford University Hospitals, including performing or supervising cut ups, microscopy, other diagnostic techniques, reporting cases, and supporting clinical meetings and case discussions. The ability to support alternative specialty pathology would be an advantage, and additional programmed activities may be available.
Main duties of the jobLead and adopt modern diagnostic techniques as part of the Department's commitment to digital pathology. Include training and development of new methods where required.
Support colleagues and services across the South 4 Pathology Partnership, facilitating integration of digital pathology and an integrated laboratory information management system to enable close working across sites.
Develop sufficient expertise to support complex referral cases and work closely with colleagues to ensure the quality of work across the entire team.
Person specification Qualifications / Training- FRCPath or equivalent
- UK trained applicants must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by interview date. Non UK trained applicants must show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
- Specialist training in gynaecological pathology
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
- Higher medical degree
- Independent reporting of complex gynaecological cases
- Evidence of decision making at consultant level and management of complex clinical problems
- Ability to lead and support leadership of others
- Effective administrative and time management skills; training in clinical management
- Understanding of NHS pathology management roles and willingness to engage and participate in management
- Evidence of clinical teamwork at consultant level in a teaching hospital
- Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork
- Willingness to share cases and seek second opinions appropriately
- Good spoken and written English
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of formal and informal contributions to teaching and training
- Evidence of effective and sustained contribution to clinical governance, clinical risk management and clinical audit activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for explaining complex situations to professionals and non professionals
- Peer reviewed publications and research grants
