Job Description

Contract - Technical Product Owner - London Remote

We're helping a European fintech scale a new generation of intelligent open banking products. After eight years focused on traditional data aggregation and payment services, they're now evolving - blending real-time banking data, AI, and natural communication to power smarter affordability checks and insights for consumers and businesses.

They've got strong product-market interest, early client validation, and investor backing - but they need someone who can turn vision into delivery.

This is a 3-month contract with a stong possibility of becoming 6-months as you'll help change the mindset of the business, not just deliver on the deliverables listed below.

The role:

They're looking for a Technical Product Owner who can bridge the gap between commercial strategy, user needs, and technical execution. You'll be key in shaping product development processes, building clarity where there's ambiguity, and enabling the team to ship high-quality features quickly.

The product vision is ambitious: enabling corporate and institutional clients to understand affordability and financial health in a much deeper way - moving beyond raw transactional data into tailored insight powered by agentic AI. Think consented banking data, NLP-driven interfaces, and high-trust user journeys where AI agents act on users' behalf.

This is a greenfield opportunity to define and validate the infrastructure, technical requirements, and delivery rhythms from the ground up.

What you'll do:

  • Own and shape product requirements, turning high-level thinking into detailed user stories, data flows, and technical specifications
  • Work closely with commercial and engineering teams to map out how user journeys should work - including token flows, consent management, and insight generation
  • Help the team understand what's viable, where the edge cases are, and how to test assumptions early
  • Act as a translator between business vision and technical execution - ensuring teams are solving the right problems
  • Build process and delivery discipline into the team, moving from vague briefs to repeatable blueprints
  • Define infrastructure and architecture needs where appropriate, but you don't need to be a pure architect
  • Contribute to hiring plans, tooling, and overall product direction

What they're looking for:

  • Experience in financial services, open banking, or payments - particularly familiarity with PSD2 concepts
  • Strong background in shaping delivery processes - as a product owner, technical business analyst, or solutions consultant
  • Ability to break down complex user journeys and translate them into meaningful technical requirements
  • Understanding of AI/ML productisation - no need to be a deep learning expert, but you know what's realistic and how to think about data readiness
  • Comfort with uncertainty and iterative product discovery
  • A hands-on, delivery-first mindset - knowing when to push for structure and when to adapt
  • Clear written and verbal communication - especially when documenting technical flows or walking teams through proposed features
  • This role will work closely with a senior product and AI lead, and help define the foundation for broader product development and hiring. They've historically moved too slowly on new initiatives - this role is about doing things differently: testing fast, failing fast, and learning faster.
