Our Payroll Solutions team delivers tailored payroll services to a diverse client base, from small businesses to fully managed payroll operations. With continued growth, we're looking for a Payroll Specialist to join us and play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and high-quality payroll services.
The RoleAs a Payroll Specialist, you'll take ownership of processing payrolls for a varied client portfolio, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a first-class client experience. You'll also collaborate closely with colleagues and external bodies to keep everything running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately process weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finish across your allocated client portfolio
- Ensure all payrolls are completed in line with internal procedures, compliance requirements, and client deadlines
- Administer statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and other payroll-related entitlements
- Manage BACS submissions and maintain accurate payroll records and audit trails
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice, ensuring ongoing compliance
- Liaise with HMRC, clients, and internal teams to resolve queries and ensure smooth service delivery
- Support payroll reconciliations, reporting, and continuous improvement within the payroll function
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing, ideally within a bureau or client-facing environment
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- High attention to detail, with a methodical and accurate approach
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Confident using payroll systems (experience with PayCircle or Cintra is advantageous)
- CIPP qualification (or working towards) is desirable
