Payroll Specialist

Our Payroll Solutions team delivers tailored payroll services to a diverse client base, from small businesses to fully managed payroll operations. With continued growth, we're looking for a Payroll Specialist to join us and play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and high-quality payroll services.

The Role

As a Payroll Specialist, you'll take ownership of processing payrolls for a varied client portfolio, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a first-class client experience. You'll also collaborate closely with colleagues and external bodies to keep everything running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately process weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finish across your allocated client portfolio
• Ensure all payrolls are completed in line with internal procedures, compliance requirements, and client deadlines
• Administer statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and other payroll-related entitlements
• Manage BACS submissions and maintain accurate payroll records and audit trails
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice, ensuring ongoing compliance
• Liaise with HMRC, clients, and internal teams to resolve queries and ensure smooth service delivery
• Support payroll reconciliations, reporting, and continuous improvement within the payroll function

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing, ideally within a bureau or client-facing environment
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
• High attention to detail, with a methodical and accurate approach
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Confident using payroll systems (experience with PayCircle or Cintra is advantageous)
• CIPP qualification (or working towards) is desirable
