Job Description
Employment Senior / Managing Associate 5+ PQE Birmingham

We are working with a highly regarded national law firm seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor with 5+ years PQE to join its leading Employment team as a Senior or Managing Associate. This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognised practice advising a broad client base ranging from PLCs to SMEs, as well as senior executives and professionals, on a wide range of complex employment matters.

The Role
  • Advise clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters including disciplinary issues, grievances, dismissals and discrimination claims.
  • Provide strategic employment law advice to senior management teams and boards.
  • Advise on TUPE transfers, restructures and redundancy programmes.
  • Support clients on whistleblowing matters, employee relations issues and workforce change projects.
  • Represent clients in Employment Tribunal claims and related disputes.
  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, settlement agreements and related documentation.
  • Advise senior executives and professionals on all aspects of the employment relationship.
  • Communicate directly with clients, take instructions and manage matters efficiently.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, client relationship management and marketing activity.
  • Play a key role in the continued growth and strategic development of the team.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years PQE in employment law.
  • Strong technical knowledge across contentious and advisory employment matters, ideally gained within a reputable private practice team.
  • Experience advising employer clients on strategic and day to day HR issues.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in client facing situations.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a busy and varied caseload.
  • Commercially aware and able to deliver pragmatic, client focused advice.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience acting for senior executives on employment matters.
  • Previous involvement in business development and networking initiatives.
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers or mentoring team members.
  • Exposure to corporate support work on transactions and TUPE matters.
