Maintenance Strategy & Assurance Manager
Location: Contract Support Office (Wiltshire, SP3 4RS)
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 days per week on site)
About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Maintenance Strategy & Assurance Manager to lead the development, implementation and oversight of maintenance strategy across the contract. This role is responsible for shaping policy, procedures and guidance, and acting as the business lead for the ongoing improvement of our maintenance management systems. You will also hold the named role of CAFM Manager under the contract.
This is a key position for someone who enjoys driving consistency, improving processes and ensuring that maintenance delivery is compliant, efficient and aligned with contractual and organisational requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties
- Provide leadership and management to direct reports, including performance, attendance, behaviour, capability, wellbeing, health & safety and record keeping.
- Support the development, testing, implementation and rollout of CAFM systems for planned and reactive maintenance activities across operational teams.
- Support the deployment of mobile working solutions for CAFM users.
- Standardise processes, procedures and guidance to ensure consistent delivery of maintenance and CAFM requirements.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with client representatives to ensure a shared understanding of maintenance and CAFM obligations.
- Review client driven asset changes, assess impacts, and ensure consistent application of updates in line with commercial and operational processes.
- Support the creation and maintenance of maintenance task schedules and inspection regimes to ensure compliance with statutory, contractual and industry standards.
- Work with regional teams to identify opportunities to optimise maintenance delivery and lead discussions with the client to drive continuous improvement.
- Act as custodian of the organisation's asset database, maintenance schedules and asset information, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout asset lifecycles.
- Develop and deliver training to ensure operational teams understand and comply with CAFM and maintenance requirements.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure their asset and maintenance needs are accurately captured and reflected within the CAFM system.
- Conduct assurance checks to confirm consistent maintenance processes across regions and verify the accuracy of maintenance schedules, including developing performance indicators and metrics.
Secondary Duties
- Support internal audit programmes and contribute to improvements in systems, policies and procedures.
- Support change management activities and ensure effective implementation across the organisation.
- Contribute to the development of strategic solutions that reduce risk and maximise operational opportunities.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies in CAFM, asset management, mobile solutions and analytics to support future capability development.
- Experience managing performance monitored, multi service facilities or maintenance contracts.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and asset management methodologies and industry standards.
- Experience working within facilities management, asset management or similar operational environments.
- Knowledge of public sector or defence related contracts (desirable but not essential).
- Educated to HNC/HND/Degree level or equivalent experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable).
- Understanding of key health and safety regulations relevant to maintenance and asset management.
- Strong planning, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CAFM).
- Ability to produce and interpret management information to support decision making.
- Confident communicator able to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and optimise processes.
- Skilled in performance management and the use of management tools.
