Head and Neck Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to work with patients diagnosed with cancer as part of the Head and Neck Cancer CNS team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a 6 month fixed term position; band 7 but we are open to applications from experienced nurses who can demonstrate potential.
This role offers an opportunity to provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients and their relatives/carers, facilitating high quality, individualised care within the Cancer CNS team across inpatient, outpatient, day care and community settings.
You will work collaboratively with all members of the extended multidisciplinary team, including imaging, medical and surgical consultants, clinical nurse specialists, research teams, administrative teams and other hospitals. You will work independently while remaining part of the wider Cancer CNS Team.
You will be supported by a team of CNSs and other MDT members, delivering an exceptional standard of care throughout the cancer patient pathway and further developing skills for a more autonomous practice.
Main duties of the job- Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care for patients and their relatives/carers in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver specialist nursing care and support within the clinical speciality, managing complex situations and taking appropriate action in various settings.
- Maintain flexibility in the clinical area, providing cover across specified areas and acting as a professional role model through direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.
- Act as a Key Worker, carrying a clinical caseload under close supervision, proactively managing care and ensuring ongoing support for patients.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications- Registered Nurse
- Experience of supervising junior staff
- Knowledge of research and audit
- Evidence of continuous professional development, including relevant post registration qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience of change management and managing a group of staff
- Post graduate qualification in a relevant speciality or post registration experience within such speciality.
- Able to manage difficult situations effectively.
- Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
