Job Description

This role act as the operational and professional clinical lead, overseeing the delivery of Resuscitation Services across the organisation. It is fundamental in supporting the health board to meet its strategic objectives of developing a competent and effective clinical workforce, with the right levels of skills to meet current and future service requirements in relation to the deteriorating patient and resuscitation.

Main duties of the job
  • Providing high- level professional oversight for Resuscitation Services in all PTHB services areas, providing assurance to the Medical Director and Board that the delivery arrangements meet the quality standards of the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK).
  • Provide expert specialist clinical and professional advice on matters including policy development, training, clinical governance, equipment and incident analysis.
  • Manage the delivery of Resuscitation Training, including the internal Basic Life Support (BLS) offer, ensuring that it is evidence-based and meets the needs of PTHB clinicians. Further, the role will lead and contribute to the development and delivery of relevant clinical skills training specifically around the care of the deteriorating patient, NEWS and sepsis.
  • Ensuring that robust governance arrangements are in place to assure the organisation that services are managing resuscitation equipment effectively.
Qualifications
  • Educated to Master level or equivalent relevant senior level experience
  • NMC/HCPC/GMC Registered healthcare professional
  • Recognised teaching qualification e.g. Level 3 Award in Education
  • Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS Provider
  • Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS Instructor or willingness to complete course within 3 months of appointment
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical aspects of health care
  • Understand research and audit methods
  • Evidence of ongoing relevant CPD
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
  • PGCE/Cert Ed
  • Advanced life support (ALS) instructor
Experience
  • Extensive post registration experience in use of a wide range of relevant clinical skills and medical devices
  • Delivering BLS/ILS training
  • Delivering formal teaching, training or education to a variety of audiences and professional groups
  • Leading, or contributing to clinical audit, service evaluation or governance activity
  • Managing clinical incidents, debrief of complex situations relating to resuscitation
  • Understanding of Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines and requirements
  • Working autonomously
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams, senior clinicians and managers
  • PGCE/Cert Ed
  • Experience of working in a Resuscitation service or critical care setting
Skills & Attributes
  • Work under pressure and to tight timescales
  • Work within a team effectively
  • IT experience of frequently used Microsoft applications and tools including PowerPoint, MS Teams, Outlook, spreadsheet tools
  • Organised and systematic
  • Good analytical skills
  • Some ability to speak, read and/or write Welsh, or an eagerness to learn
Other
  • Ability to travel within geographical area (Powys wide)
  • Able to work hours flexibly to meet needs of the service

£58,379 to £65,723 a year pro rata
