Freelance Fiber Designer

Working in the Regional Delivery team:

Regional Delivery is part of the overall Roll-Out team, where you bundle all coax and fiber optic activities where the client's regional expertise, organization or presence adds value. This includes designing and supervising projects, coordinating with other utilities, and managing relationships with cities and municipalities. They ensure that our network is improved and expanded, so that they can offer customers an optimal network.

Your responsibilities as an Design Engineer:

• As a Build Engineer, you will be responsible for the high-level design (HLD) of coax and fibre optic networks in the Antwerp region, both for expansion works and for relocation projects.
• An important part of your role is coordination with external parties, such as engineering firms and utility companies.
• During these coordination meetings, you will identify the need for relocation work or the opportunity to expand our network.
• In doing so, you defend the client's vision, you represent their interests and ensure that all agreements with the other parties are clear.
• You are therefore a strong communicator and have sufficient technical insight to consult with all participating parties.
• Utilize GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Comsof) to analyze, manage, and visualize spatial data.
• Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support projects requiring geospatial analysis.
• Create maps, reports, and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to GIS tools and workflows.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in GIS technology.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience with GIS software, including ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Knowledge of Comsof and Marlin is a strong asset.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in English and/or Dutch (both written and spoken).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
