Estimator / Procurement Specialist

Walsh Construction Group is seeking an experienced Estimator / Procurement Specialist to join our growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional who has strong commercial awareness, solid estimating experience, and the ability to build up competitive and accurate rates across a range of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects
• Complete prequalification questionnaires and associated documentation for tender submissions
• Build up rates from first principles including labour, plant, materials, and subcontract packages
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation
• Carry out accurate quantity take-offs and measurements directly from drawings
• Source and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Actively monitor Etenders and other procurement portals to identify suitable tender opportunities
• Assist with procurement scheduling and purchasing activities
• Maintain and update cost databases and supplier pricing records
• Update and maintain Buildsoft BOQ templates for residential and commercial projects
• Liaise with the QS Department and Site Teams during the tender process and throughout live projects on site
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures
• Ensure tenders are submitted within deadlines and to a high standard

Requirements

• 3-5 years' experience in an Estimator role within the Irish construction industry
• Strong ability to build up rates and prepare detailed costings
• Good knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing
• Experience working on commercial, residential, or civil projects preferred
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Global Estimating (Buildsoft), and Cubit estimating software
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
