Credit Controller

  • Location: Epsom (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
  • Salary: £30,000 + Benefits
  • Job Type: Full-time, permanent role.

Join a well-established and fast-paced organisation as a Credit Controller. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with existing credit control experience who enjoys building relationships, managing their own ledger, and driving cash collection performance.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt while minimizing risk and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Proactively chase outstanding payments via phone, email, and other channels.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all customer interactions.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor credit limits and ensure they remain appropriate.
  • Manage and review credit-stopped orders, taking necessary action.
  • Identify changes in customer payment behaviour and escalate risks.
  • Log and resolve customer queries in a timely manner.
  • Process new account applications and support credit decision-making.
  • Support with ad hoc finance and credit control projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year's experience in Credit Control or a similar finance role.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with customers.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive and positive, with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Comfortable managing your own workload and prioritising effectively.
  • Strong team player who thrives under pressure.
  • Good level of numeracy and literacy (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent).
  • Intermediate Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
  • Previous experience within an accounts or credit control environment.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience with credit control systems or ERP platforms.
    • Exposure to credit checking tools and risk assessment processes.
    • Professional credit qualifications or willingness to study (e.g., CICM).
