Job Description

  • Develop and implement a Resident Engagement Strategy, leading communication with residents about building safety, responsibilities, and issues.
  • Engage with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Manage daily safety operations of all buildings within your portfolio under the Building Safety Bill 2021.
  • Coordinate and manage all structural and fire safety matters in in-scope buildings to meet legislative requirements.
  • Support the compliance program for buildings, including fire equipment, portable appliance testing, alarms, legionella, and other safety works.
  • Implement and coordinate fire safety, evacuation, and security arrangements to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Monitor and challenge colleagues on Fire Risk Assessments, ensuring they are current and actions are completed timely.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain Building Safety Cases and proactively manage risks.
  • Work with Development and Asset Management to maintain a digital 'Golden Thread' of building information supporting Safety Cases.
  • Maintain good relationships with the Building Safety Regulator and Fire Authority, ensuring expectations are understood and certifications are maintained.
  • Participate in contractor, consultant, and procurement meetings to ensure ongoing building safety.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety legislation and Building Regulations.
  • Contribute to policies, procedures, and systems related to building operations.
  • Liaise with stakeholders on maintenance and asset management, supervising contractors through processes like Permit to Work.
  • Support colleagues in project management and compliance activities to ensure standards are met.
  • Keep updated on legislation and industry best practices related to Building Safety.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and manage customer complaints effectively.

The Successful Applicant

  • Fire Safety qualification accredited by IFE or IFSM, or working towards it.
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management, or working towards.
  • Chartered membership of CIH or CIOB, or a degree in construction or housing management, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role within a residential provider.
  • Thorough understanding of Building Safety legislation and the Safety Act.
  • Experience managing Building Safety upgrades projects.
  • Management experience with external contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills.
