JA1344 - Workshop Engineer Location: LiphookSalary: £30,000 - £35,000Overview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Workshop Engineer on behalf of one of our clients, a long-established supplier of engineering machine tools to the UK hobby and light industrial markets.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Seeking an experienced engineer with both mechanical and electrical backgrounds and skills to work on a range of lathes, mills, and drills.
  • Manual (non-CNC) turning, milling and light fabrication skills will be necessary, and the position will be predominately workshop based with some occasional customer site visits from time to time.
  • Use your metalworking background to solve workshop issues, find and rectify faults.
  • Carry out testing and commissioning of new machines.
  • Check machines against specification and quality criteria.
  • Fabrication of parts and undertake general metalworking tasks.
  • Carry out refurbishment of used machinery.
  • You will be able to undertake metalworking tasks including drilling, tapping and fitting accessories onto machines.
  • Occasional client site visits for repairs, specialist installs and collections will be required.
  • Provide technical support to the sales team and direct with customer.
  • Provide holiday, sickness, and general cover during busy periods in the warehouse as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • You will have a mechanical engineering background.
  • You will be proficient in electrical 240v and 440v and electrical controls.
  • You will need to be able to wire up machinery, conforming to current electrical safety standards.
  • Experience with quality assurance systems and procedures would be advantageous.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Practical experience in a comparable role.
  • Good telephone manner and be comfortable dealing with customer technical queries.
  • Be a flexible, adaptable, team worker and able to work safely and without supervision under you own initiative.
  • Be committed to delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Possess a clean UK drivers' licence.
