Joining the Welcome Team at Rufford Old Hall, you'll be part of a friendly, supportive team who take pride in greeting every visitor with warmth and enthusiasm. Each day brings the chance to share your knowledge, help others discover the fascinating stories of our site, and make every visit memorable.
Salary: £13.25 per hour
Contract Duration: Permanent
Working Hours: 299 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.
Working Pattern: You will work 1 day per week throughout the year, with minimal or no work in January while the house is closed. Shifts are from 10:00am to 5:00pm (including a lunch break). Weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required.

Located beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, Rufford Old Hall boasts nearly 500 years of Lancashire history. Our collection ranges from 16th-century armour and 17th-century tapestries to Edwardian agricultural equipment and a remarkable Tudor movable screen, believed to be the only surviving example of its kind.
What you'll be doingOur work revolves around creating great experiences, answering questions, assisting with requests, and making sure every visitor has the information they need to enjoy their day.
- Providing a warm welcome and sharing information to help visitors make the most of their day.
- Promoting membership and supporting fundraising efforts, inspiring visitors to get more involved or donate.
- Opening and locking the visitor reception and bookshop, ensuring everything is ready for visitors.
- Running our bookshop, keeping it well-stocked and inviting, and helping visitors find the perfect read.
- Carrying out light physical tasks, manual handling, and spending much of the day on your feet.
- Customer focused with an understanding of the importance of great service.
- A team player, but also can work on your own initiative.
- Well organised and adaptable.
- Willing to learn new skills.
- Have a positive attitude.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Compliance with any necessary regulations.
