Wastewater Senior Operator/Operative (Network, Network Maintenance & Repair) - East Cork

We are currently recruiting for Senior Operatives/Operators in West Cork to fill current vacancies and have a panel for future openings.
Wastewater Network Maintenance & Repair Senior OperativeThe Senior Operative supports the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance and repair activities across the water and wastewater network infrastructure in a safe and hygienic manner. The role provides day to day leadership and direction on the ground to ensure consistent delivery of water services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise maintenance and repair activities, including burst and leak repairs, water main and service fittings, water meters, customer boundary boxes, service reservoirs cleaning, valve and hydrant replacements, and post repair pipe and pump tests.
- Assist with sewer surveys, identify heavy infiltration or stormwater from road gullies, perform investigations, clear blockages, and respond to alarms.
- Ensure prompt response to alarms, provide emergency cover and resolve issues with water network assets.
- Verify chemical dosing measures at pumping stations and support Compliance and Sampling teams with operational sampling and reporting.
- Supervise teams in customer communication, investigate escalated complaints, and support consistent customer service while managing public health and compliance risk.
- Support Customer teams, including Key Account Managers and Customer Service, with customer queries or works impacting service delivery.
- Record and report relevant information using provided technology systems, log investigations, raise requests for follow on work orders, and update H&S records and inventory.
- Monitor works, manage material requisitions, and accurately record incidents in system.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures, perform risk assessments, and comply with Construction Regulations.
- Operate Uisce Éireann vehicles and machinery responsibly, maintaining adequate stock levels.
- Ensure teams adhere to task schedules, standard operating procedures, and close out work orders.
- Collaborate with third parties/contractors, issuing permits and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Engage internal and external stakeholders such as landowners and contractors.
- Track team activities, update timesheets, and support line manager with reporting and performance management.
- Drive efficiency of team works, inspecting works and tracking training delivery required.
- Provide cover and support to other water operations teams as needed.
- Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by the line manager.
- Secondary level education or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience supervising or managing teams in a health and safety culture, preferably in a water or wastewater network environment.
- Experience/understanding of working within a strong health and safety culture.
- Knowledge of water/wastewater network, infrastructure and operations.
- Sound knowledge and experience of all skills required for maintenance and repair of the network.
- Full, clean Class B driving licence (additional driving licence categories an advantage).
- Experience using IT systems.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Strong customer service skills with demonstrable experience dealing with customers.
- Ability to work in potentially hazardous environments (hazardous chemicals, sewage, confined spaces, lone working, remote working, deep water, animals, vermin, noise, hand and arm vibration). Successful completion of an occupational health assessment is required.
- Literate in reading and writing.
- Experience working within Wastewater Services or other Utilities is an advantage.
