About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for three Multi-Skilled Operative (Level 1) to join the Norwich City Services Limited (NCSL) team on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027. If you are an experienced tradesperson with multi-trade skills and a passion for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance services, we would love to hear from you. This role is open to internal applicants only.

As a Multi-Skilled Operative, you will have a recognised core trade together with competency in at least two additional trade disciplines. Typical works may include carpentry repairs, kitchen and bathroom fitting, plumbing repairs, plastering, wall and floor tiling, vinyl flooring installation, and general property maintenance. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, interpret drawings and specifications, order materials, complete work to agreed standards, and ensure properties are completed efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities also include liaising with supervisors and scheduling teams, updating work records using PDA or mobile technology, undertaking dynamic risk assessments, complying with health and safety requirements, and contributing to the continuous improvement of services. The postholder will work collaboratively with customers, colleagues and stakeholders while supporting apprentices and trainees where appropriate and upholding the values of Norwich City Services Limited.

The ideal candidate will hold a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 qualification in a core trade, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience, together with substantial experience across multiple trade disciplines. A strong understanding of health and safety requirements, excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, problem solving abilities and the ability to work independently are essential. Candidates must be able to work at heights and hold a full UK driving licence. Desirable qualifications include Asbestos Awareness and CAT B Removal training, ladder training, and previous experience delivering planned and void works within social housing properties.

This role is for 37 hours per week, but to ensure flexibility and promote an inclusive workplace part time hours or a job share agreement will be considered.
