Veterinary Surgeon - Independent Small Animal Practice (Liverpool)

GVC are proudly assisting a respected, independent veterinary practice in their search for a passionate and capable Veterinary Surgeon to join their growing team.

Special Interest in Imaging, Internal Medicine, or Ophthalmology Preferred

About the Practice & Location

This is a modern, independently owned small animal clinic, located in the heart of Liverpool, a city known for its rich cultural heritage, friendly communities, and excellent quality of life. The clinic sits in a pleasant residential neighbourhood with easy access to local parks, eateries, and retail centres, offering a healthy balance of city vibrancy and suburban calm.

Well connected by public transport, and with free onsite parking, commuting is simple and stress-free.

The practice itself is bright, spacious, and purpose-built, designed with workflow and patient care in mind. It's currently home to a close-knit team of 4 experienced Vets, each bringing their own clinical strengths and interests. This collaborative environment makes it an excellent place to learn, develop niche skills, and share clinical insight.

Clinical Equipment & Facilities

The practice is very well-equipped, allowing the Veterinary Surgeons to confidently work up complex cases and pursue their areas of clinical interest.

Equipment includes:

Digital radiography (including dental x-ray)

High-resolution ultrasound scanner

Endoscopy

Multiparameter monitoring systems

Electrocautery

Dedicated sterile operating theatre

Modern dental suite

In-house IDEXX laboratory

Separate dog and cat wards

Dedicated isolation area

With this level of support, the successful candidate will enjoy true clinical freedom and the ability to work cases up to a high standard, without pressure from corporate sales targets or restrictions.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time role, best suited to a confident and proactive Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 2 years' UK GP experience. Candidates with a special interest in imaging, internal medicine, or ophthalmology are highly encouraged to apply, though vets with a general interest in delivering excellent, ethical care will be equally valued.

Rota:

No out-of-hours (OOH) Monday to Friday: 8:00am - 7:00pm 1 in 4 weekends: Saturday & Sunday, 9:00am - 3:00pm This opportunity offers true autonomy, excellent support, and space for clinical growth within a well-established, team-oriented environment.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum 2 years of UK small animal GP experience

Competent in consulting, routine surgeries, and diagnostic workups

A desire to develop a clinical niche in imaging, internal medicine, or ophthalmology is welcomed

Strong communication skills and a true team player

Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care
