Job Description
Are you looking for a role where your work has a real impact every day? As a System Optimisation Analyst, you'll play a key role in helping us deliver a reliable water supply to more than 16 million customers. Working within our System Optimisation Team, you'll help manage and protect our clean water network, supporting operational performance, improving customer service and ensuring we continue to meet our regulatory commitments. Every day brings a new challenge, whether you're analysing network performance, supporting engineering projects or responding to operational incidents.
This is an up to 12-month secondment/fixed-term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent.
What you'll be doing as a System Optimisation Analyst
As a System Optimisation Analyst, you'll support the System Optimisation Engineers in managing the operation of our clean water network while working closely with colleagues across Production, Leakage and Network teams to deliver the best possible service for our customers.
Base location: Kemble Court, Reading. This is a hybrid role, with 2 days working remotely and 3 days based in the office or on site with the Network team.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. The team normally works together in the office on Thursdays, with the other two office days being more flexible.

What you'll be doing as a System Optimisation Analyst
As a System Optimisation Analyst, you'll support the System Optimisation Engineers in managing the operation of our clean water network while working closely with colleagues across Production, Leakage and Network teams to deliver the best possible service for our customers.
- Monitor, investigate and help resolve pressure issues, customer complaints and operational escalations.
- Analyse operational data and identify trends to support network performance and decision-making.
- Support engineering and customer-led projects across the clean water network.
- Assist with managing unplanned operational events to minimise disruption for customers.
- Help complete operational risk assessments and support safe delivery of network activities.
- Build knowledge of water network operations, leakage management, commissioning and water quality while developing your technical expertise.

What you should bring to the role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data.
- Awareness of hydraulic principles or experience using mapping or Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with a range of internal stakeholders.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and a willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of the water industry or other operational utility environments would be beneficial
- This role will be paid from £34,820 up to £41,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
- 26 days holiday, increasing to 30 days with length of service (plus bank holidays).
