Job Description

The student support and conduct specialist provides leadership and support in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of programs and interventions that promote a safe, supportive, and orderly educational environment for middle and high school students. The position supports school administration in matters related to student behavior, attendance, wellness, supervision, crisis response, and school safety initiatives.

The student support and conduct specialist works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, families, community agencies, and students to implement proactive behavioral interventions and student support systems aligned with district policies and applicable federal and New Hampshire laws and regulations, including Safe School Zones, Drug-Free School Zones, child protection requirements, attendance regulations, bullying prevention, and school safety procedures.

This position serves as a member of the school's behavioral leadership and crisis response teams.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Certified educator or eligibility for NH educator certification preferred
  • Experience in behavior intervention, school discipline, counseling, social work, juvenile justice, education, or related field preferred
  • Training or experience in crisis intervention, restorative practices, behavioral assessment, or student support systems preferred
KNOWLEDGE

Preferred knowledge of:

  • New Hampshire Department of Education rules and regulations
  • Federal and state student discipline and attendance laws
  • Child protection reporting requirements
  • School safety and crisis response procedures
  • MTSS/RTI behavioral intervention systems
  • Restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches
  • NH Judicial System and juvenile services processes
  • District policies and procedures related to student conduct, bullying, attendance, and wellness
  • Student information systems and state reporting requirements

CLASSIFICATION

This position is designated as a professional student support position and is a member of the school behavioral leadership team.

REPORTS TO

Building principal and/or assistant principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The student support and conduct specialist shall:

  • Support the coordination and implementation of school-wide behavioral interventions and student support systems
  • Assist administration and staff in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans and student support strategies
  • Conduct or assist with behavioral assessments, intervention planning, classroom consultation, and crisis response
  • Provide direct support to students experiencing behavioral, attendance, or school adjustment concerns
  • Collaborate with families regarding behavioral supports, attendance concerns, and student success plans
  • Support restorative practices and positive behavioral interventions
  • Assist administration in matters involving bullying, harassment, student conflict, and school safety concerns
  • Respond promptly to emergency or crisis situations involving students
  • Support implementation and monitoring of tiered behavioral interventions
  • Oversee and support office detention and in school suspension programs
  • Monitor hallways, common areas, and student movement throughout the school day
  • Retrieve and analyze data related to attendance, discipline, student safety, and state reporting requirements
  • Support student supervision during school activities and events as assigned
  • Assist administration with review and revision of student handbook policies and procedures
  • Participate in school safety planning, wellness initiatives, emergency response planning, and crisis team activities
  • Serve on committees, task forces, and school improvement teams as assigned
  • Collaborate with community agencies, law enforcement, mental health providers, and social service organizations as appropriate
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Perform other duties as assessed by administration
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is primarily a school setting with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and a moderate noise level typical of schools.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • 200 day position
  • Eight hour workday; additional hours may occasionally be required
  • Successful completion of criminal background check required

Evaluation shall be conducted annually by the building principal in accordance with district procedures.
