Requirements
  • You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. Please supply this on your application form.
  • You will be a First Level Registered Nurse trained in general nursing or adult nursing or a Registered Operating Department Practitioner. Experience in Scrub/theatre practice and/or Anaesthetics and/or Recovery is essential.
  • PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check required for all posts.
  • Evidence of current NMC/HCPC registration will be required prior to start date for Band 5 posts.
Responsibilities

As part of an enhanced network of care for orthopaedic patients in Scotland, Gartnavel General Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital have been identified as increasing orthopaedic activity within GGC. Due to this expanding service we are looking for experienced perioperative staff with expert perioperative skills particularly in Orthopaedic theatres and within all perioperative specialties (Anaesthetics, Recovery, Scrub and Healthcare support workers) to support this development within theatres at GGH and IRH.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for assessment of care needs and the development of a programme of care, and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes to ensure delivery of high quality perioperative care. The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. You should demonstrate flexibility by working within a service that runs over seven days a week including out of hours work.

The South Sector & Clyde Theatres undertake a perioperative dual training programme and multispeciality training supported by the GGC Centre of Clinical Perioperative Excellence. You will be supported in post-registration education by the Perioperative Education Teams and will have access to training and education pertinent to the job.

You may be required to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde South Sector to meet service needs.

Education and development

All staff will have access to training and education pertinent to the perioperative role. The GGC education teams will guide and support your learning and educational development in the Perioperative Roles.
