Job Description
We are currently recruiting a Staff Nurse - Mental Health on behalf of a reputable hospital in Dublin. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, person-centred mental health nursing care in line with professional, ethical, and organisational standards.
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week
Key Responsibilities- Practice mental health nursing in accordance with the professional code of practice as laid down by An Bord Altranais / Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safe custody, accurate recording, and administration of medication in line with legislation and hospital guidelines.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care programmes addressing the physical, psychological, social, cultural, spiritual, and vocational needs of patients.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation relating to patient care.
- Participate in clinical induction, teaching, and education programmes for support staff and student nurses.
- Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, contributing to all aspects of patient care.
- Delegate duties appropriately to team members, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
- Adhere to established lines of authority and accountability within the nursing management structure.
- Assume unit management responsibilities in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager, as required.
- Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with demonstrable post-registration psychiatric nursing experience (mandatory).
- Minimum of post-registration nursing experience in adult mental health services, including mental health rehabilitation services and/or community-based mental health services (mandatory).
- Proven clinical experience in mental health rehabilitation and in caring for individuals with serious and enduring mental health conditions.
- Demonstrated clinical, managerial, and administrative competence, with a high standard of professional suitability for the role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Mental Health Commission (MHC) standards and requirements.
- Evidence of effective practice within multidisciplinary teams, with a strong understanding of clinical governance principles and processes.
- Ability to lead, teach, and support others, including active participation in the practice education of student nurses and healthcare staff.
- Sound knowledge and practical experience of health & safety legislation and other statutory regulations relevant to healthcare organisations.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development (CPD), with evidence available on request.
