Job Description

The post holder will be a Specialty Doctor covering the catchment area of North Caerphilly Mental Health services based in Rhymney. They will work alongside the existing Consultant Psychiatrist in the Caerphilly borough and together will provide medical input to the community services in North Caerphilly.

They will positively respond to requests from Team Members who need advice in the day-to-day management of adult patients in any setting within the borough and contribute to the development of adult mental health services.

Main duties of the job

As a senior employee of the Health Board, the post holder will work in close co-operation with and support other clinical, medical professionals and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Boards patients.

This is a 10-session post serving adults (aged 18 - 65) residing in the borough of North Caerphilly. The post holder will be based at the North Caerphilly Community Mental Health Team based at Rhymney Integrated Health and Social Care Centre. The North Caerphilly CMHT currently received around 800 referrals per month.

The post holder will be supported by a wider multi-disciplinary team consisting of Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Health Care Support Workers and Administrators. The Caerphilly CMHT resource is clinically led by the Consultant, with the support of a Specialty Doctor and Senior Nurse.

This role offers a balanced job plan with adequate time to complete administrative tasks, direct weekly supervision by a consultant with the aim of developing your skills both clinically and non-clinically (such as with quality improvement projects and leadership). The role also includes two protected 'Special Interest Sessions' and two sessions of remote working per week.
