Solution Architect - Data from Physical Products (Contract)

iO Associates are delighted to present an exciting contract Solution Architect opportunity through a government framework award. We're seeking a cleared architect with hands on experience designing data solutions from physical products and manufacturing environments.

The Opportunity

You'll translate complex requirements into production ready solution definitions, designing end to end data architectures from physical sources (sensors, manufacturing plants, MRO processes) through to authority consumption and decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Problem decomposition: Clarify the problem, outcomes, constraints, and success criteria.
• End to end design: Map data flows from physical sources (manufacturing, MRO, warehousing/logistics) through platforms, edge devices, comms, analytics, and reporting.
• Boundary & interface definition: Draw clear system boundaries and document APIs, file drops, message buses, and dependencies.
• Non functional excellence: Address availability, integrity, confidentiality, auditability, data quality, latency, and resilience requirements.
• Stakeholder alignment: Run workshops with SMEs, resolve trade offs between technical, commercial, and operational needs.
• Decision quality deliverables: Produce governance ready artefacts, commercial packs, and supplier engagement documents.
• Risk identification: Spot latency, data loss, degradation, contractual, or skills risks early.
• Physical product data expertise - manufacturing plants, maintenance repair & overhaul (MRO), sensors/platforms.
• Proven ability to understand what data can be extracted from physical manufacturing processes (not just digital IT systems).
• Strong stakeholder facilitation and workshop delivery.
• Experience producing architecture artefacts for government/commercial governance.

Desirable

• Warehousing/logistics data architecture experience.
• Defence, aerospace, or regulated industry background.
• Familiarity with government frameworks and commercial structures.
