Cloud Development Manager (Hybrid - Zoetermeer)

Are you a technical leader who enjoys building healthy engineering teams, shaping modern cloud practices, and delivering reliable, secure platforms? We are looking for a Cloud Development Manager to lead and grow our cloud engineering organisation as we scale nationally and internationally.

Our cloud platform supports technology used every day in real homes, helping people live independently, safely, and with dignity. As we grow, we need someone who can bring structure, collaboration, and calm leadership to a fast-developing environment.

The Cloud Development Manager leads and develops the organisation's cloud engineering capability, including multiple internal cloud development teams, the DevOps team, and selected external development partners. You will ensure that the cloud platform evolves in a scalable, secure, high-quality way while supporting product growth and a strong engineering roadmap.

This role combines technical leadership, team development, and delivery excellence, fostering modern engineering practices and ensuring predictable, high-quality outcomes across all cloud-related areas.

Responsibilities :

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and coach cloud developers, DevOps engineers, and external partners.
• Build a stable, healthy team structure and support the transition from freelancers to internal staff.
• Foster autonomy, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Technical Direction

• Shape cloud technical direction collaboratively with tech leads and development teams.
• Promote modern engineering practices: Agile, DevOps, automation, CI/CD, cloud-native design.
• Guide cloud architecture and ensure security, scalability, and maintainability.

Delivery & Process

• Ensure predictable planning, execution, and high-quality releases.
• Improve development flow, tooling, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Strengthen alignment with Support on cloud operations and Product on device-side dependencies (HW/FW/SFRM/FRR).

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Product, Support, Quality & Compliance, and hardware/firmware teams.
• Collaborate with international R&D colleagues as part of ongoing group integration.
• Ensure visibility of cloud development across the organisation.

Capacity & Budget

• Manage internal capacity, external development partners, and cloud-related budgets.

Requirements :

Technical Background

• Solid understanding of modern cloud development (preferably AWS).
• Knowledge of backend/IoT architecture and familiarity with PHP environments.
• Strong grasp of DevOps practices (CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, automation).
• Ability to review technical proposals and guide decisions constructively.

Leadership Experience

• 5+ years managing engineering or cross-functional technical teams (or strong tech lead ready for the next step).
• Experience building, developing, and stabilising teams.
• Calm, structured leadership style; decisive yet collaborative ("doortastend").

Ways of Working

• Strong in Agile/DevOps culture and modern software development methods.
• Fluent Dutch preferred; strong English required.
• Comfortable collaborating across Dutch and Nordic cultural environments.
• Able to be onsite at least two days per week .
