Service: Intensive Family Support (IFS) - Safety & Welfare Team
Organisation: Tusla

Contract Type: Temporary (Agency)
Hours: Full Time - 35 hours per week

Purpose of the Post

The Social Work Team Leader will provide professional leadership and management to a Social Work team within the Intensive Family Support (IFS) Safety & Welfare Team, ensuring the delivery of high quality, child centred services in line with Tusla policies, national practice frameworks, and statutory responsibilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide day to day operational management and professional supervision to social work staff
  • Ensure effective case management, risk assessment, and decision making in relation to child welfare and protection concerns
  • Support social workers in managing complex and high risk cases, promoting reflective and evidence based practice
  • Monitor and manage workload allocation, ensuring service priorities are met
  • Ensure compliance with Children First, relevant legislation, Tusla procedures, and national practice standards
  • Liaise with internal services and external agencies to support integrated service delivery
  • Contribute to service planning, reporting, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Promote a positive team environment that supports professional development and best practice
Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must, on the latest date for receipt of applications:

  • Hold a recognised professional qualification in Social Work
  • Be registered on the Social Workers Register maintained by CORU
  • Have relevant post qualification experience, including experience in child protection and/or child welfare services
  • Demonstrate previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
  • Have a thorough knowledge of Tusla practice models, policies, and statutory functions
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, communication, and decision making skills
