Job Description

SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen within a collaborative, people first culture. SLR is seeking Senior Archaeologists (Project Supervisors) and Principal Archaeologists (Project Officers) for full time permanent (37.5hrs/week) positions in Bolton, with fieldwork nationwide. The role requires overseeing small to large teams and leading projects of varying complexity.

Roles and Experience
  • Senior Archaeologist (Project Supervisor) - minimum 2years experience, including at least 1year of supervisory experience.
  • Principal Archaeologist (Project Officer) - minimum 5years experience, including at least 1year of supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise teams and manage project delivery from fieldwork to post excavation analysis.
  • Write and support report production, including smaller scale reports and larger scale reporting.
  • Interpret findings on site and deliver findings to clients.
  • Use GIS recording and GPS equipment for site documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent report writing skills and willingness to develop further.
  • Proficiency in GIS recording and GPS use.
  • Full, clean driving licence and 4x4 or van driving experience with access to a car.
  • Preferred: CIfA membership at PCIfA or ACIfA level.
Working Arrangements
  • Permanent staff will attend an archaeological office on a hybrid basis; casual or temporary staff remain site based.
  • Travel is required across the UK, with travel time compensated as paid overtime or TOIL subject to annual limits.
