Senior Wordpress Developer / Engineer

Role: Senior WordPress Engineer / Developer (Headless CMS)

Salary: Up to £65,000 (DOE)

Location: Peterborough or London (Hybrid - 1 day every 4-6 weeks on-site)

My client, a leading digital company, is seeking a Senior WordPress Engineer to deliver scalable, headless CMS solutions across high-traffic content platforms. You'll build robust APIs, optimise performance, and collaborate with UK and European teams to support enterprise-level digital publishing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop headless WordPress builds using PHP 7/8
• Design and integrate REST APIs and WPGraphQL
• Create scalable content models with ACF, CPTs, and taxonomies
• Optimise performance through caching and CDN strategies
• Deliver clean APIs for React/Next.js frontends
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and containerised workflows

Key Skills:

• Advanced WordPress and PHP development
• Strong API experience (REST, GraphQL, OAuth/JWT)
• Familiarity with JAMstack, Docker, and modern DevOps practices

Working Model:

Hybrid - flexible, with office visits every 4-6 weeks (Peterborough or London)
