Senior Solution Architect - Pre-Sales & Delivery

We are looking for a Solution Architect to join us as part of our team.

About the role

In this role, you'll directly contribute to the company's growth in two ways: by shaping solutions for new clients in pre-sales and by owning the architecture of one of our actively developed commercial products.

From the beginning, this position will have 2 major focuses:

• Pre-Sales - acting as a Solution Architect in RFI/RFPs, discovery phases, and client workshops.
• Commercial product - working as a Solution Architect for multiple running commercial projects (around 30% of your time), helping the team evolve its architecture and non-functional qualities.

Over time, we expect you to participate in starting new projects from scratch and support existing teams with architecture decisions across the portfolio (architecture reviews, design workshops, best practices).

The role offers a flexible work schedule, allowing you to adapt your working hours, with the requirement to attend all key team and client meetings.

As a qualified expert, You will 1. Pre-Sales responsibilities (primary focus)

• Lead the technical discovery process and design robust, scalable, and cost-effective solutions for proposals, RFI/RFP responses, and new client engagements.
• Prepare technical sections of proposals, including solution descriptions, architecture diagrams, assumptions, risks, and delivery approach.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for prospective clients, clearly articulating the proposed solution, technology stack, and implementation strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in discovery and inception phases, producing an architecture vision, roadmap, MVP definition, and high-level delivery plan.
• Transition pre-sales architecture into delivery, ensuring the project team understands and adheres to the approved design.
• Provide architecture guidance and short-term support for ongoing projects when needed (typically short or medium-term involvement).

2. Commercial project responsibilities (secondary focus, 20-30% of your time)

• Act as Solution Architect for active commercial projects, working closely with the Product and Engineering teams.
• Own and evolve the end-to-end architecture of the solution (backend services, data storage, integrations, and cloud infrastructure).
• Define and maintain architecture artefacts: high-level diagrams, data flows, non-functional requirements, technical guidelines, ADRs.
• Provide hands-on guidance to the development team:
  • participate in design sessions,
  • review critical technical decisions and PRs,
  • lead spikes and PoCs when needed (Node.js and JVM).
• Ensure the solution meets scalability, security, availability, and cost-efficiency expectations.

3. New projects & cross-team architecture support

• Participate in starting new projects from scratch: help define scope, architecture approach, MVP slice, and key technical decisions.
• Conduct architecture reviews and design workshops with delivery teams, helping them make sound architectural choices.
• Promote architecture best practices.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing: documentation, guidelines, best practices, and internal tech sessions.

We're looking for you if you have

• Minimum of 7+ years in a technical role, with at least 3+ years dedicated to Solution Architecture, including pre-sales or client-facing consulting.
• Deep hands-on experience with both:
  • JVM stack - Java and/or Kotlin.
  • Node.js (e.g., Express, NestJS or similar frameworks)
• Expert-level proficiency in designing and implementing solutions across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Proven experience designing distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, scalable APIs, data-driven solutions, and enterprise integrations.
• Our preferred cloud provider is AWS, so we expect you to have deep, practical experience designing and operating solutions on AWS (services selection, cost optimization, security, and observability), including practical experience with the following:
  • containerized workloads (ECS/EKS or similar),
  • relational databases (Postgres/Aurora or similar),
  • search/analytics engines (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch as a plus),
  • object storage and ETL/data ingestion pipelines (e.g., Glue, Lambda, batch jobs).

• Solid understanding of security principles, compliance, and performance optimization
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to define technical solutions under tight deadlines and vague requirements
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear and compelling technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Preferred experience in Fintech and/or Payments domains (e.g., payment processing, digital wallets, card issuing, fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, PCI DSS, KYC/AML).
