The Role - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

This is a senior level mechanical design role within a busy and technically focused consultancy environment. You will take responsibility for delivering mechanical building services designs across multiple projects, ensuring quality, compliance and programme targets are achieved.

You will play a key role in leading project delivery, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and acting as a trusted point of contact for clients. This role suits an experienced engineer with strong Irish consultancy experience who is confident taking full ownership of projects from concept through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation
• Manage projects from initial concept through detailed design, construction support and final handover
• Ensure all designs meet Irish building regulations, CIBSE guidelines and relevant industry standards
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, architects and wider design teams to ensure integrated project delivery
• Review and produce technical calculations, specifications and reports
• Attend client and design team meetings, providing technical input and solutions
• Oversee quality of design outputs and ensure deadlines are consistently met
• Support and mentor junior engineers within the team

About You

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Strong experience within an Irish building services consultancy environment
• Proven track record delivering projects independently, not just supporting senior staff
• Excellent knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
• Strong understanding of Irish Building Regulations and CIBSE standards
• Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Hevacomp
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage with clients and design teams
• Organised, detail-focused and driven to deliver high-quality work on time
