Location: Remote from Poland (flexible: remote/hybrid/onsite)
Start: Mid/Late January 2026
Contract: 6 months + extensions
Language: English required | German nice to have

This role is not feature development-focused. The mission is to raise engineering quality, performance, and maturity across teams through coaching, governance, and best practices.

Role Purpose

We are looking for senior-level engineering experts to support the client in improving software delivery quality and efficiency while upskilling existing teams.

The engagement is centered around:

• Engineering excellence

• Quality gates & governance

• BDD adoption

• Coaching and enablement

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Quality & Governance

• Define and implement quality gates based on a consistent pull request workflow

• Establish PR standards:

  • Code review criteria

  • Branching strategies

  • Definition of Done

  • Static analysis & automated checks

Upskilling & Coaching

• Run workshops and review sessions

• Create playbooks, guidelines, and learning materials

• Ensure long-term adoption of engineering standards

BDD Enablement

• Implement BDD as a core testing and communication approach

• Work with PO, QA, and Developers

• Define Gherkin scenarios and living documentation

Change Management

• Support adoption via office hours and feedback loops

• Provide regular progress reporting and transparency

Metrics & Visibility

• Prepare dashboards and templates covering:

  • PR quality

  • Test coverage

  • Lead time and flow metrics

Required Skills & Experience

Must-have

• Senior-level experience in software engineering/engineering excellence

• Strong Java expertise and quality practices (testing, CI/CD, code reviews)

• Proven experience defining and enforcing PR-based quality gates

• Hands-on experience with:

  • GitHub/GitLab/Azure DevOps

  • CI pipelines

  • Static code analysis tools

• Practical experience with BDD implementations (tools, practices, coaching)

• Strong communication and facilitation skills

Nice to have

• German language skills (reading/writing/speaking)

• Experience in large or regulated environments

• Knowledge of DORA metrics and engineering productivity frameworks

• Exposure to Vaadin and/or Integris
