Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Defence IT Solutions
Location: Farnborough (Hybrid)
Salary: £70,000-£75,000 + excellent benefits
Clearance: Must be eligible for SC clearance

Looking to take your infrastructure expertise into high-impact defence and national security projects? This is a great opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a fast-growing consultancy delivering innovative, secure IT solutions across public and private cloud environments. You'll be working at the cutting edge of virtualisation, cloud and automation in a business where technical excellence and collaboration go hand-in-hand.

What you'll be doing

• Maintaining and improving multi-classification, virtualised and cloud-based environments
• Leading Ubuntu upgrade and optimisation activity, mentoring junior engineers along the way
• Supporting "secure by design" practices across projects and internal platforms
• Providing infrastructure support across Office 365, Azure and hybrid cloud systems
• Performing patching, hardening and monitoring to keep systems compliant and secure
• Supporting Elastic upgrades, VMware and Openshift environments
• Automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration (e.g. Ansible, PowerShell)
• Triaging and resolving alerts, incidents and change requests in line with IT security policy
• Sharing knowledge through documentation, training and supporting the wider team

What you'll bring

• Strong background in Windows Server (2016+) and Linux (CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu)
• Experience with VMware, Azure and networking fundamentals
• EUD provisioning (Autopilot), patching and hardening experience
• Understanding of SSO, secure environments and protective marking
• Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible, PowerShell)
• Desirable: Kubernetes, Terraform, Elastic, Nessus, HashiCorp Vault, Microsoft 365 administration, Agile ways of working
