Senior Data & AI Operations Engineer

The Role

As a Senior Data Operations Administrator, you will be the technical authority within the BI Operations team. Beyond daily maintenance, you are responsible for setting the standards for system monitoring, configuration, and architectural decisions. Working alongside the Head of Data Operations, you will ensure the reliability of our global data delivery while mentoring the team and driving technical excellence.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Set the standards for system monitoring, job scheduling, and configuration across the entire BI landscape.
• SLA Management: Ensure timely data delivery for business reporting, adhering to strict SLAs and business agreements.
• Process Optimization: Work with the development team to ensure that deployment processes and architectural shifts do not create operational bottlenecks.
• Advanced PoCs: Lead Proof of Concept initiatives for new technologies and innovative data solutions.
• BI IT Audit & Compliance: Oversee the technical integrity of the landscape, ensuring documentation and system maintenance meet audit requirements.

Key Deliverables

• Strategic Recommendations: Present bi-monthly operational reviews with actionable technical solutions and improvements.
• Deployment Oversight: Manage weekly deployment cycles and ensure high-standard technical documentation.
• Operational Stability: Act as the final point of escalation for complex technical incidents and system failures.

Expertise & Qualifications

Must-Have:

• Experience: 5-10 years in a large enterprise BI setup, with at least 5 years specifically within BI Operations.
• Core Tech Stack: Extensive, hands-on experience with Data Lakehouse, Databricks, and Power BI.
• Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of Data Warehousing, database technologies, and ETL/ELT principles.

Preferred Skills:

• Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between deep technical troubleshooting and business-level reporting.
• Analytical Prowess: A proven track record of solving complex architectural and operational issues in high-pressure environments.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Solid background in database operations and BI technologies.
• Deep understanding of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence design principles.
• Proactive mindset in managing operational projects and areas of expertise.

Work Environment & Logistics

• Shift/Availability: Operations require early starts at the Porto office to mitigate job failures before the business day begins globally.
• Flexibility: Availability for weekend work during service windows, month-end processes, or critical maintenance.
• Incentive: This is a 2-year engagement with a clear transition path to the client's internal team.
