A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mental HealthPractitioner within the Torridge Core Adult Mental Health Team based at Abbotsvale,Bideford.

As part of Devon Partnership Trust, the team at Abbotsvale provides mentalhealth treatments and interventions to adults of working age across rural andcoastal demographics that combine to make this a fascinating and beautiful areato work.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver high quality comprehensive mental healthservices. The role involves managing a defined caseload with a focus onproviding expert assessment and treatment for people with complex mental healthdifficulties. Liaising with the personsfamily, carers and partner agencies to provide and balanced and informedapproach.

Adopting a recovery co-ordination approach to mutually design apersonalised plan of treatment packages that is agreed by the individual andevaluated to evaluate efficacy and patient experience.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and energy who wants to makea difference to peoples lives; is creative, innovative and highly motivated.You must have assessment and care planning skills and experience in mentalhealth and multi-disciplinary working is desirable.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be able toexercise clinical judgement in respect of assessing and managing risk. Job responsibilities

The post holderwill deliver high quality comprehensive mental health services. The roleinvolves managing a defined caseload with a focus on providing expertassessment and treatment for people with complex mental health difficulties andtheir carers. This will include recoveryco-ordination (design and co-ordination of treatment packages that arepersonalised and evaluated in line with payment by results). To liaise with Adult Social Care in their CareManagement functions (assessment, care planning and reviewing). The liaison with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies is central to thisrole.

The post holderwill contribute to the clinical leadership of the team, providing supervisionfor other members and participating in team and service development, andevaluation.

Person Specification Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health problems.
• Able to produce accurate, concise & well written reports.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of professions from various settings.
• Evidence of working as an autonomous practitioner without direct supervision
• Able to own problems and get involved in the solutions.
• Biopsychosocial assessment, leading to formulation and planning.
• Ability to manage risk.
• Able to prioritise work to reflect change in needs.
• Able to work collaboratively with clients, carers, relatives and referrers to ensure safe and effective outcomes.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage own time and that of the teams.
• Ability to work flexibly.
• Ability to be mobile across a geographical area.

Knowledge

• Specialist knowledge and experience of acute mental health issues within working age and Older adults.
• An understanding of the Care Programme Approach / Local Mental Health Care Pathways / Mental Health Act / Mental Health Capacity Act & DOLS requirements.
• Awareness of community structures and social care options and processes.
• Understanding of recovery principles in Mental Health

Qualifications

• A professional mental health qualification eg: RMN, CQSW / ASW, BSc/Diploma in OT
• A current registration with a professional body ie NMC
• Post graduate qualification relevant to specialism.
• IT Skills

Experience

• Substantial experience of managing a busy caseload of clients with a range of mental health problems.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
• Providing clinical supervision.
• Assessment experience (particularly mental health & risk).
• Working within a community mental health setting in either the statutory or voluntary sector.
• Participation in user involvement in services.
