This is an exciting opportunity to shape how one of the UK's most high profile city regions tells its story through video, photography, podcast and livestream.

We're looking for someone who can combine creativity with effective leadership, someone who can set a vision, organise and inspire others and deliver exceptional content in a fast moving environment; someone technically skilled and audience focussed, with a sound understanding of what makes content work for social media.

As our Senior Communications & Engagement Manager (Content Creation), you'll lead a super talented AV team producing impactful, insight driven content that helps people understand the work of Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), the Mayor of Greater Manchester and partners and strengthens trust in local democracy. The AV team's work is varied from making reels with the Mayor to recording a podcast with firefighters, from award winning photography to livestreaming and sound engineering events.

What you'll be doing

You'll be the driving force behind our content creation and social storytelling leading the Audio Visual team to deliver high quality video, photography, livestreams and digital formats that bring Greater Manchester's priorities to life. In this role, you will:

  • Provide senior management for the commissioning, briefing, day to day management and deployment of the Audio Visual team
  • Ensure activity is insight led, drawing on audience data, platform trends and emerging formats
  • Oversee complex, multi workstream content and AV delivery, leading project planning and production scheduling
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure their priorities are reflected in high quality, audience focused content
  • Work with senior leaders and colleagues to develop and implement social media strategies for key GMCA accounts, ensuring channels are engaging, accessible, inclusive and aligned with organisational goals and brand.
  • Provide assurance for digital media governance, ensuring robust GDPR compliant practices, adherence to accessibility requirements, and best practice in digital asset management across the full content lifecycle

This role at the heart of a high profile, high impact communications service and you'll play a key part in shaping how Greater Manchester communicates with the people it serves.

What you'll bring
  • Hands on experience producing high quality Audio Visual and social media content for a high profile organisation, with the ability to film and edit at pace
  • Excellent writing skills and proven editorial judgement, able to translate complex ideas and cutting edge policy into clear, engaging content for different audiences
  • Demonstrable success growing engagement and audiences across social media, with strong understanding of evaluating reach, impact and using insight to inform content
  • Experienced leader providing senior oversight of the full Audio Visual function, including equipment procurement, maintenance, budgeting, forecasting and end to end production
  • Calm, resilient and adaptable with sound judgement under pressure and managing competing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Collaborative and skilled at building effective relationships across a large, complex organisation, working confidently with colleagues, partners and senior stakeholders
  • Committed to public service values, ensuring content is engaging, accessible and aligned with GMCA's vision, missions, values and behaviours
Why join us?

At GMCA, you'll help deliver our shared vision of a thriving city region where everyone can live a good life. You'll work on stories that matter, from major policy announcements to community led initiatives and you'll help shape how millions of people understand the work happening across our city region.

You'll also join a supportive, creative communications service that values innovation, wellbeing and professional development.

Ready to help shape Greater Manchester's story? If you're excited by the idea of leading a high performing AV team, pushing creative boundaries and delivering content that makes a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
