Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Nephrology

The department of Renal Medicine are looking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow to join the team.
The post will predominately be based in Withybush Dialysis Unit in Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire which is approximately 60 miles west of Swansea/ Morriston Hospital.
The post is full time working Monday to Friday with no on call commitment and would be suited for those wishing to take time out of programme.
The post holder will work closely with the Consultants covering the dialysis units to care for the patients on dialysis in these units. Provision of Outpatient care for those on Peritoneal Dialysis and with Transplants will be expected again in partnership with the wider Renal service. Out-patient general nephrology care for those patients with chronic kidney disease attending Bronglais hospital will again be provided in consultation with the appropriate Consultant responsible for their care.
Main duties of the jobDuties will involve dialysis unit and transplant clinic reviews and a monthly MDT, gaining experience in renal anaemia and mineral bone disease as well as general management of haemodialysis patients. The role is supported with the help of a wider multi-disciplinary team including specialist pharmacists, renal nurses and consultants. You will also be carrying out the occasional inpatient renal review in Withybush, seeing acutely unwell patients with advanced acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease. There will be opportunities to attend chronic kidney disease clinics.
The post offers the opportunity for dedicated research time during the working week, whilst providing ongoing clinical experience on our dialysis units (Withybush, Haverfordwest and Aberystwyth) as well as in clinic in Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth.

Person Specification Qualifications and Registration- Full registration with the GMC
- GMC Licence to practice Medical degree e.g. MBBCh, MBBS
- Valid Advanced Life Support Skills (ALS or equivalent)
- Recent experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent)
- Evidence of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Minimum of 12 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent and evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies from UKFPO affiliated
- Experience of working in a Nephrology service
- Experience of working in acute care setting e.g. ITU
- Experience of working in medical specialities (above Foundation programme level)
- Demonstrate skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients, families and colleagues
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely
- Ability to speak Welsh or willingness to learn
- Flexible and adaptable to competing demands
- Ability to form effective working relationships within a team
- Ability to work independently and seek advice appropriately
