Senior Clinical Fellow in Adult Critical Care with Research

Minimum requirement: Registrar level or equivalent or post completion of core training in Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine Training, any of the Acute Care Common Stems or Surgery.

Full time appointments available now, February 2026 and August 2026.

Main duties of the job

St George's Hospital is the primary teaching hospital in South West London and provides all of the tertiary specialities. The St George's Adult Critical Care Directorate has 60 Critical Care beds across three Critical Care Units: General Intensive Care (GICU), Neuro Intensive Care (NICU) and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care (CTICU). This is an extremely exciting time for the Directorate with the construction of a new 20 bed adult ICU currently underway. Successful candidates will work across one or more of these units during their period of employment at St George's and where possible we will accommodate specific unit preferences.

We can accommodate experienced trainees/clinical fellows looking to broaden their experience (including subspecialty experience in Cardiothoracic or Neuro Intensive Care) as well as more junior clinical fellows but with a minimum requirement of Registrar level or equivalent or post completion of core training in Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine Training, any of the Acute Care Common Stems or Surgery.

Duties and responsibilities will be commensurate with the individual candidate's experience and are overseen by consultant intensivists at all times. The experience gained will be beneficial to trainees wishing to pursue a wide variety of career aims.

Successful candidates for this post will be scored at interview and offered in turn, depending on availability their first choice of rotation.

A large number of services, such as cardiothoracic medicine and surgery, neurosciences and renal transplantation, also cover significant populations from Surrey and Sussex, totalling around 3.5 million people. As well as acute hospital services, we provide a wide variety of specialist care and a full range of community services to patients of all ages following integration with Community Services Wandsworth in 2010.

  • Previous experience on a senior tier ICU rota
