Job Description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

This an excellent opportunity for a well motivated doctor to gain experience in obstetrics and gynaecology.

This post supports the candidate to gain experience in the Royal College of O&G core curriculum. Educational and clinical supervision is provided, and the post holder will be encouraged to engage with the Eportfolio to document training competencies. Day to day clinical responsibilities are seen to be a significant part of the training offered to clinical fellow, and opportunities are taken for informal clinical teaching as appropriate. All doctors are expected to undertake audit and to make a regular contribution to the departmental academic programme. There is an excellent Trust Education Centre including library facilities with close links to King's College London School of Medicine and Guys Cancer Centre.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to participate fully in the department with opportunity to attend specialist gynaecological clinics and gain additional skills. The post holder will contribute to consultant led clinics including:

Transvaginal scan clinics

Out-patient hysteroscopy and colposcopy clinics

Theatre sessions

Leading gynaecology MDT's

Audit and research opportunities

The successful candidate will participate in the 1:8 full shift rota providing cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology in a three-tier system. The consultant is resident from 0800 - 2200 to support high-quality care and outstanding training opportunities in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Applicants should have completed MRCOG part 3 with commitment to gain specialist skills in gynaecological surgery and be registered with the GMC.

Person Specification Clinical Experience
  • Experience of NHS hospital medicine
  • Shows an understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and corporate risk
Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Has full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
  • MRCOG Part 1 (UK) or equivalent
  • Completion of multiprofessional training in emergencies e.g. Prompt
