About This Position

Within the dynamic context of Energy & Materials Transition, you play a connecting and entrepreneurial role as Business Developer. You are constantly on the lookout for the right market opportunities within the Energy Infrastructure proposition. You bring together technical experts, proposition leads, and external partners to transform knowledge and capacity into impactful projects.

What will be your role?

You lead the process of client acquisition and portfolio development for high TRL projects, such as pilots, demonstrators, and consultancy trajectories. In doing so, you translate the infrastructure strategy into concrete market propositions that perfectly match the current needs of industry.

Relationship management is central to your work you build and maintain contacts with industrial partners, government bodies, and strategic consortia. You are the one who shapes and presents value propositions on a range of topics, from digitalization of network operations to AI applications for infrastructure design and management, and from operational optimization of hybrid energy systems to port infrastructure for energy import. Compression and sensor technologies, as well as asset integrity and safety, are also within your area of focus.

Finally, you represent TNO on relevant industry platforms, conferences, and business development networks, where your expertise and vision reach a wide audience and you continuously build sustainable collaborations.

What We Expect From You

You are a commercially minded professional with a strong knowledge of the energy network landscape. You know how to connect technical innovation with client needs and policy developments.

Other Skills You Bring To TNO

• Proven experience in business development, consultancy, or commercial strategy within the energy or infrastructure sector
• A network in sectors such as hydrogen, CO transport, energy storage, or industrial infrastructure
• Affinity with digital energy models and/or applications of artificial intelligence
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent in Dutch and English

The selection process

Please apply before the 4th of January, 2026. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. The preliminary interview takes place on the 15th of January, 2026. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.

The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check.

A certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required before starting a new job at TNO.
