Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs?
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rotherham that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The school has a strong focus on inclusion and provides excellent support for both pupils and staff, making it an ideal environment for someone passionate about SEND education.
The RoleAs a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and learning difficulties.
Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their individual learning goals.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised support plans.
Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Use positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement and independence.
Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and external professionals.
Record and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback where required.
Previous experience supporting children with SEND within a UK primary school or similar educational setting.
A patient, caring and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to individual pupil needs.
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable but not essential.
Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs is highly desirable.
Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
