We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rotherham that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

The school has a strong focus on inclusion and provides excellent support for both pupils and staff, making it an ideal environment for someone passionate about SEND education.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and learning difficulties.

  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their individual learning goals.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised support plans.

  • Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement and independence.

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and external professionals.

  • Record and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback where required.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND within a UK primary school or similar educational setting.

  • A patient, caring and resilient approach.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to individual pupil needs.

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable but not essential.

  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs is highly desirable.

  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

What We Offer
  • Competitive daily rates of pay.

  • Full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

  • A welcoming and supportive primary school with an experienced leadership team.

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant.

  • Access to free CPD and training opportunities to enhance your SEND knowledge and skills.

  • Refer a Friend bonus scheme.

If you're passionate about supporting children with additional needs and are looking for a rewarding role within a fantastic primary school in Rotherham, we'd love to hear from you.
