Science Lead (SEN / SEMH)

Contract: Full-time / Permanent Leadership Responsibility

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Science Lead to take ownership of Science provision within a specialist SEN setting in Mansfield, supporting pupils with SEMH needs and leading the development of the subject across the school.

This specialist provision delivers education to pupils who need structure, understanding, and consistency to succeed. The curriculum is carefully adapted to ensure engagement, progression, and relevance, while also prioritising emotional wellbeing and personal development.

As Science Lead, you will:

• Lead and develop the Science curriculum across the provision
• Teach Science across relevant key stages and abilities
• Support and guide other staff delivering Science
• Ensure curriculum content is accessible, engaging, and meaningful for SEN learners
• Monitor progress and contribute to whole-school development

• Significant experience working with SEMH pupils (essential)
• QTS/QTLS and a strong Science specialism
• Experience teaching Science at KS3 and/or KS4
• Leadership experience or readiness to step into a lead role
• Strong behaviour and classroom management built on relationships
• A trauma-informed and inclusive approach to education

• A key leadership role within a growing provision
