Job Title: School Cleaner (Temporary - Short & Long Term)

Contract Type: Temporary (short-term and long-term assignments available)

Hours

• 6:00am - 9:00am (Morning shifts)
• 4:00pm - 7:00pm (Afternoon/evening shifts)
• Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

Engage Education is currently recruiting reliable and hardworking School Cleaners to support schools with both short-term and long-term temporary assignments. You will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning duties across classrooms, corridors, offices, and communal areas.
• Ensure all areas are cleaned to a high standard in line with school health and safety expectations.
• Clean and sanitise surfaces, desks, touch points, and equipment.
• Vacuum, mop, sweep, and polish floors as required.
• Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
• Clean toilets, washrooms, and staff facilities to a high standard of hygiene.
• Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or safety concerns to school staff.
• Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and site procedures.
• Work independently or as part of a cleaning team depending on the site.

About You

• Previous cleaning experience (preferred but not essential).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings or late afternoons.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
• Understanding of health & safety procedures (training can be provided).
• Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to obtain one).
