SR2 is working with a digital consultancy delivering a GDS-aligned Discovery for a central gov department. They're looking for a User Researcher to help lead user-centred insight and evidence generation across an 12-week Discovery into future digital development environments.

You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, mapping user needs across service life cycles and identifying how different user groups interact with technical environments. Your research will shape key Discovery outputs, including user journeys, support models, access needs, and the service blueprint for Alpha.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct in-depth user research across a range of internal user groups
• Map user needs across the product/service life cycle and beyond
• Identify pain points, unmet needs, and edge cases in current development environments
• Collaborate with service designers, technical architects, and product leads to align findings
• Support the Discovery team in defining access models, support requirements, and capability gaps
• Contribute to a Discovery report and recommendations to inform Alpha planning

Experience:

• Strong experience in user research within GDS-aligned projects
• Skilled in qualitative research methods, synthesis, and actionable insights
• Experience working across Discovery phases in government or public sector
• Comfortable working in multi-disciplinary agile teams
• Able to communicate research findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of digital environments, developer workflows, or infrastructure services is a plus
