Job Description

East Norfolk Medical Practice (ENMP) seeks a salaried GP. We care for 32,000 patients but rarely advertise for a GP, so grab this opportunity to work with us. We are a very large practice with the benefits that brings but have a strong family feel. You will have great support from twenty GP colleagues and the wider team.

ENMP aims to support a good work life balance, professional development and sustainable work patterns. All new GPs have a mentor who they regularly meet and a weeks study leave is given. All GPs attend regularly clinical educational meetings.

At ENMP we think differently. Recently we moved to a 'systems thinking' approach, including working with an expert in workforce modelling from London South Bank University which will provide great benefits to our team and patients.

To help you decide if you want to work with us, we asked one of our salaried GPs, who stayed with us after their GP training, why they chose ENMP. They said:

  • Forward thinking practice implementing policies and practices that encourages growth/development
  • Personalised patient lists, allows for continuity of care and brings back the role of the traditional GP
  • Successful business model over recent years
  • Emphasis on staff morale and support, upskilling staff to enable retention
  • Group of partners giving support and backup if needed.

They said, 'ENMP offers a great deal to any potential recruit.'

Main duties of the job

The role is for a salaried GP with full, part time and flexible working all considered. At ENMP we are proud to continue to operate a personal list system, so you will have responsibility for your own list with continuity of care the primary focus. You will also take part in the duty doctor rota but unlike many practices, in this role, you are supported by our RCGP award winning Urgent Care Team, which includes four paramedics, an advanced nurse and a physician associate.

About us

East Norfolk Medical Practice cares for 32,000 patients across four sites in Great Yarmouth and Caister on Sea, Norfolk. The successful applicant will be supported by a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team including paramedics, advanced nurses, physician associates, care coordinators and experienced administrative staff and will have their own dedicated GP assistant.

ENMP is a stimulating place to work and develop your career. We are committed to education, teaching five years of UEA students as well as Cambridge University students and training GP registrars. We run an enhanced homeless care service including outreach and offer all the other services and opportunities e.g. minor surgery, contraception services etc, that you would expect in a leading general practice.

ENMP is all about the patients and our team. We believe our people are what makes us unique. We exist to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients and staff. We believe in the following values: trust, high standards, continuous improvement, long term over short term benefit and we aim to be 'a great place to work.' This is reflected in our very low staff turnover i.e. 4% v 35.7% national average and high staff survey scores including 85% for respect and 96% for positive culture. It helps that we give you your birthday off!
