We are excited to offer an opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced GP, including GPs on the Retainer Scheme, to join our supportive and forward thinking team at Park Medical Centre, member of Chester East PCN.
Main duties of the job- 4-6 sessions per week (inclusive of CPD)
- Happy to consider newly trained or GP Retainer
- Employed under the BMA Model Contract
- Participation in Enhanced Access required
- Starting salary: £10,000 per session, depending on experience

Park Medical Centre is a thriving, training accredited GP practice in Hoole, Chester, serving 10,000 patients. We are proud members of Chester East Primary Care Network, working collaboratively with three other practices, Boughton Health Centre, Heath Lane Medical Centre, and Upton Village Surgery. We cover a combined population of around 37,000.
Our dynamic multidisciplinary team includes:
- 2 ANPs, 2 Practice Nurses, Nurse Associate & GP Assistant
- First Contact Physiotherapist & Mental Health Practitioner
We foster a truly supportive work environment, with daily huddles, an open door culture, and a strong administrative and operational team. We use OPTUM/EMIS Web, Docman, and PACO systems for our digital front door system and are a low visiting practice with no care home responsibilities.
GP appointments are 15 minutes in length, with 12 to 13 patient contacts per session. These are a mix of face to face consultations, telephone appointments, and follow ups. Ours is a low visiting practice, and we do not provide care to any CQC registered care homes.
Job responsibilities- Provide high quality, evidence based medical care in line with the core responsibilities of a GP within primary care.
- Deliver services aligned with the GMS contract, as well as Direct and Local Enhanced Services.
- Exercise professional autonomy in managing patients, whether self referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
- Manage long term conditions effectively, in accordance with current clinical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive clinical records in accordance with best practice and regulatory guidance.
- Prescribe medications in line with the practice formulary, using generic options where clinically appropriate.
- Complete administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptions, and patient correspondence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing equally to the shared workload of the practice.
- Participate in the duty doctor rota.
- Take delegated responsibility for specific clinical areas or Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) domains.
- Adhere to clinical best practice, including guidance from NICE and local audits.
- Support continuous improvement and contribute to practice wide quality initiatives.
- Engage fully with the appraisal and revalidation processes, ensuring compliance with GMC requirements.
- Take an active role in the education and support of medical students and trainees from a range of clinical backgrounds.
- Work with the partnership team to support strategic objectives, contributing ideas to improve efficiency, enhance services, and ensure financial sustainability.
- Full registration with General Medical Council (GMC)

- Fully trained GP with JCTGP Vocational Training Certificate
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to represent the organisation with internal and external stakeholders

- Able to remain impartial, objective and non judgemental when working with others.

- Current and full driving licence
- MRCP
- DRCOG
- DCH Family Planning to include LARC (Long Acting Reversible Contraception) fitting and removal
- Alcohol and Substance abuse training
- Advanced Life Support Training
- Ability to challenge traditional models of working and to implement and sustain positive change
- Familiarity with OPTUM/EMIS WEB
- Experience of working in general practice
- Currently working/training in General Practice or some form of community medicine or urgent care.
- Evidence of consolidation of professional training, for example, able to demonstrate particular areas of interest or further study
- Experience of multi disciplinary Working
- Knowledge of national and local agendas in respect of primary care commissioning and intermediate and urgent care agendas.
- Knowledge of key areas of NHS compliance and legislation
- Good team player who is able to support, value and respect other members of the team
- Good time management being able to prioritise work and work under pressure
- Adaptable and able to respond to a changing situation
- Self motivated and able to work autonomously
- Ability to recognise own limitations and act upon them appropriately
- Willingness to learn new skills and to problem solve on a daily basis
- Willingness to attend occasional meetings away from the Practice

- Current Hepatitis B Immunity Certificate
- Full membership of Medical Indemnity Provider
- Satisfactory reference replies, including current/last employer
